SEW Eurodrive Vietnam celebrated, together with partners, customers and guest from foreign SEW entities, the Grand Opening of our Drive Technology Center (DTC) located in Dong Nai province, Vietnam on 17th October 2024. This DTC becomes the first in Vietnam and the 93rd in our global network and is dedicated to marking a significant milestone for SEW-Eurodrive globally.
“This new factory underscores our commitment to providing world-class driving technology and automation solutions to our customers in Vietnam. Like in other countries, the customer's proximity enables us to and ensures an excellent experience for our customers with SEW. This means from first contact until after sales service” said Mr. Andreas Appel, Managing Director of Sew-Eurodrive Singapore and Vietnam.
We have already recruited and trained engineers and technicians which will enable us to assembly and deliver the first gear motors in December 2024. The factory has a total land area of 9,500m2. The workshop area is nearly 4,100m2. The office floor has 910m2 over 2 floors and includes training facility and state of the art work environment for our employees. The factory was designed and built in accordance with German and Vietnamese as well as SEW Group’s standards. In addition, the management has decided to install a solar power system with a total capacity of 400.2kWp, right from the beginning and its operating already, reducing our carbon dioxide emission drastically.
To ensure short delivery times, we have a warehouse that will hold a significant amount of parts. The modernly, by German and Vietnamese engineers designed and with tools equipped assembly lines, paint booth, testing area and packing line, offering a capacity to assemble up to 100 gear motors per day. It is completed by a professional service workshop where we can service and overhaul all kind of drive equipment.. We have not only invested in hardware but also introduced the full SAP landscape to manage all business activities. To start right away and continuously improve as the management makes use of Lean & Six sigma, TPM, Kaizen, KANBAN, etc.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Alexander Ziehe - Chair of the German Business Association, Mr. Nguyen Ba Chuyen - General Director of Sonadezi Long Binh, Mr. Christopher Blickle - Executive Managing director, vice president SEW United States of America, Mr. Thilo Grimm - Head of SEW International markets, Chairman of SEW Vietnam, Mr. Sauer - Head of International Markets 2, Mr. Andreas Karl Appel - Managing Director and the management team of Sew-Eurodrive Vietnam, and relevant customers from various industries who have collaborated with SEW-Eurodrive Vietnam, including key partners such as Nam Trung, EMT, Phu Loi, Intech etc.

The opening today is an example of the combination of German technology and experience with Vietnam's emerging potential” said Mr. Christopher Scholl, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Consulate General in Hochiminh City.

To commemorate this historic moment, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to inaugurate the factory, followed by a plant tour and a lunch party.
The day before the grand opening, SEW Vietnam invited customers to participate on seminars, sharing details on the MOVI-C® portfolio, MOVIKIT® Robotics, and Power and Energy Solutions (PES), led by Lim Aik Ping, AE Manager, with support from the AE teams in Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Not only during the seminar we made use of four demo units to show our products and solutions in action. With a focus on surpassing our customers’ expectations in quality, delivery times and safety SEW Vietnam will continuously invest in manpower and trainings. Before leaving the factory, rest assured that our products have been thorough tested on our in house developed testing equipment.
